Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home

When I got my new camera eighteen days ago, the first thing I did was walk around the grounds of my workplace and take some photos. The results were underwhelming. I tried again yesterday, again with all my settings on manual. I think I’m moving in the right direction.

The focus is crisper and the exposure settings seem to be in the neighborhood of what I’d like. I could still use some work on my composition (and finding interesting things to shoot, for that matter).

How do you measure progress in your work?
